Hello,
I am a 70% Disabled Vet and recently was awarded 100% IU after many years. I am a resident of Illinois. I have been trying to find out what I exactly qualifiy for since receiving the 100% IU. I am wondering about the Disabled Veterans' Standard Homestead Exemption (DVSHE). Do I qualify any higher than the 70% which is $2500.00. Or am I able to get the $5000.00 EAV reduction for the 100%. I have called many offices to check on this. The VSO in Will County said that I do qualify but would have to check with the Department of Veterans Affairs. I called the VA and they said that is a state benefit, they had no idea, they didn't even know IL had such a program. I called IL Dept of Veterans' Affairs and they had no idea. I called the DAV and they said I should probably call the Department of Revenue. So I"m just wondering if there are any Illinois Veterans that have 100% IU but not 100 % Scheduled that may be of some help.
Thank-You, ALL.
Hadit.com forums has been of great help in my long battle to receive 100% IU. I've been out of the Navy since 1994. Just received it last week, 2/2010.
I want to say never give up to anyone who is working on a claim. Be persistant.
