Knee Replacement - ? Both Knees

Rate this question

SFCMoore

Question

I am 100% temp and 90% perm. In 2007 I had a total R knee replacement. 2009 I had a knee revision - same knee - Service connected. I walk w/a cane and use 2 pain patches on the knee as well as a brace. To say the lease I am in the 15% of knee replacements that did not work. As a result my left knee is going bad. I understand that most times the other knee is injured as a result of "favoring" the bad knee. Is this somehow connected, VA wise, and could I place a claim on the other knee going bad. I am still under care for the knee replacement. Also, I am S/C for DDD L4/L5. The back is aggravated by the knee and the knee aggravates the other knee and so on and so on. Does this all fit somehow into a claim?

Its a shame that VA does not do better but sorry I really don't want someone who is learning to become a Doc to cut on me. Anything that involves surgery will be done using My Medicare Benefits.

Right, Pete

Even when you have the best surgeon and best help you can still die during a serious procedure. Hospitals are crawling with these staff infections. My VAMC looks dirty to me. They had to cancell surgeries due to flies in the OR for a while.

Look at the skeletal system...any brake or injury to it will undoubtably cause problems to the structure. Trauma to one side affects the other as well as spinous processes. Don't ever go in smiling when you visit the Dr. They use it against you.

You never have a "good" day. I am not telling anyone to not be truthful, but 1 good day and 6 bad days the bad one's win.Remember pain meds have s/e too, and tell if you experience them too. Weather changes also have painful effects on bones so tell that too, ie stiffness, need for heating pad, elevation r/t edema(swelling) etc.more pain meds, and sleeplessnes.

Also what you wear is documented, don't wear your sunday best clothes.

If dressed better than the Dr they may think you are "well to do too."

I have read all your posts. Your husband is a lucky guy to have you in his corner.

My most positive thoughts are with you and your Husband for a positive outcome.

CB, John, Pete and Halos2; your comments are so appreciated. :D

Tomorrow is physical therapy again for my husband, and Tuesday we have another telephone hearing with the court. We got the report from C&P and will be working on our objection and correction to it. Halos2 thank you for the reminder about the skeletal system connections.

Take care all, and blessings to you!

John; we know that you can die in any surgery and we accepted all the risks involved with knee replacement -except abandonment- that one wasn't in the informed consent. And the VA doc who did the uni-knee, actually submitted his affidavit to the court as an expert witness in a case against him. I don't get how that one flies, as I see direct conflict and a self-serving affidavit. Oh well, we take things one day at a time, hopefully learning a few things in the process before we are done and get to go home (I'm mighty tired of this place called earth).

Everyone have a good Sunday, and make sure to tell those you love that you love them.
