Is Anyone Else Using The Va Ebenefits Site Yet?

Bill (USAF Retired)

Question

I happened across this during my online wanderings, and it's awesome.

http://www.ebenefits.va.gov allows me to check my VA claim status, check my VA pay status for disability compensation, GI Bill and voc rehab, pull a home loan eligibility certificate, pull a copy of my Air Force service record (I'm retired), and other stuff. I've been kicking the tires on this for an hour or so.

Now why, may I ask, do you think that they told him to come back in a month?

Thanks LarryJ. I think I'll wait a month before attempting to gain access to this new program again..

Perhaps after getting access to this Ebenefits site you will get a message "we are working on it....yawn" just like with 800# and Iris.

Okay dumb question. How do you gain access to DEERS? Is there an application I missed?

I'm not sure this information I am about to provide will be useful. When my husband obtained his armed forces identification card from a military base after he was determined by V.A. to be permanently and totally disabled the records department at the military base put his information in the DEERS system. Many years later I learned that there is a telephone number for DEERS so a veteran can check on the status of dependents.

Well, I received my activiation code in the mail. I went on line to see what would happen, but while reading the letter it said something to the affect that the VA was not ready for this yet. It also said, like others here have posted, that I would have to drive from San Antonio to Houston for an in-person identification (that will not happen). Makes me wonder that if the Regional office has to identify you, does that mean the San Antonio VA might be taking care of people who are not Veterans :) . Just wondering.

I am in the Deers System cause I can shop on the PX/BX online system not that I want to. I have watched this thread with some amusement I must be on the stupid list also cause I am still waiting to be able to look at my labs and appointments on Myhealthevet a promise made every year for five years and here we are rounding the bend of another year it has been promised and nothing in sight.

The VA and computers my 9 year old Grand Daughter knows more about computers than the VA does.
