Question

This is the article that I was telling everyone earlier about VA easing up on confirmed stressors. It states this is NOT just for Iraq and Afaghansitan wars but it is for all in previous wars. I scaned the artical from the VFW Nov/Dec issue 2009. I hope I can up load the PDF file here.PTSD.pdf

Doctors Must Provide Testimony

Before this new ruling, VA claims adjudicators

were required to corroborate

that non-combat veterans actually

experienced a stressor related to hostile

military activity. Now, combat support

personnel in the Iraq and Afghanislan

war£-as well as those of previous

war£-who experience combat should

find it easier to garner service-connect.

ed disability compensation.

This is in the article, again read it carefully!

I am keeping in mind that this topic relates to an article in

a Vets Service Org. magazine.

"Before this new ruling, VA claims adjudicators

military activity."

I completely disagree with the underlined quote above.

I'm in agreement with Test and just want to see how any change in

relaxing the requirement for a verified stressor, effects veterans claims

say a year or so do the road.

jmho,

ChuLai69,

I still, even with this VFW article do not find anything relating to your post of:

http://www.hadit.com/forums/index.php?s=&a...st&p=200182

"In 2010 the VA has relaxed the stressor issue for PTSD. Now as long as you have 2 VA doctors dx you with PTSD, you don't have to prove the stressor. They are suppose to give the Vet the benifit of the doubt with the 2 VA doctors dx. It has to be 2 dx's from the VA. The IMO will have no weight without a proven stressor. The important factor, it has to be 2 VA doctors dx of PTSD if you do not have a proven stressor. This is quoted from my own VA Psyc."

Can you provide a link or regulation to support the statement above ?

carlie

Carlie my original post on this was posted on "quotes from my VA PSYC that tied into this article. The above quotes from me are direct quotes from one of the VA PSYC's. He is the one that pointed out to me the new rules that were going to be implemented in 2010 that he and others at the VAMC were given updates and memos on. Some people will read it different, and some will take it as OH WELL LETS JUST SEE. I take it as just maybe a little bit of hope that could bring us just a little ray of positive sunlight for non combat and combat veterans who do suffer "FOR REAL", PTSD symptoms for many years but had a hard time getting the original stressor verified. I know there are tons of Vets out there that share the same situation. So lets just keep our fingers crossed and "never give up the ship" as you Navy boys and girls say LOL Or as you Marines say "Simper Phi" Or as us Army Viet Nam Vets say "It don't nuttin," It don't mean a thing" LOL
