Since the theft of the VA data I have been checking with various banks and investment accounts that I have and have found out that most have very little security. I know have a password for my bank so that if anyone comes into the bank pretending to be me they have to know my password. I did this for my IRA as well. If someone calls my IRA company they have to have a PW before the customer service will talk to them. I also have a industrial strength shredder.

You can set it up with the credit bureaus so that if someone tries to open a credit account in your name they have to call you first and get your permission. Now is the steal you credit card or card number you are not responsible. You are not responsible for credit fraud. It is just if they get into your bank account somehow that they can clean you out . Get passwords for everything if you can.
