Question

Snakecharmer (veteransinfo.org ) emailed this interesting study on Graves disease and AO:

"PARIS — Exposure to Agent Orange, the defoliant used during the Vietnam War, appears to be an important predictor of Graves’ disease in veterans.

Results of a study presented here at the International Thyroid Congress showed that Vietnam War-era veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange have three times the prevalence of Graves’ disease compared with unexposed veterans (OR=3.102; 95% CI, 1.56-6.16).

Berta, Great article. I have been on meds for years for Hypothyroidism, but I believe Graves disease is for hyperthyroidism. Wonder if AO has any impact on Hypothyroidism. BTW, my wife and I were in your area of Northern NY about a month ago. We were on a Amtrak train from Chicago. We got stuck on the tracks for about 6 hours because a freight train derailed in front of us. I love trains.
