Timing Of Claim Decision

Question

First time poster. I am recently retired from the AF and filed my claim as of 1 September 10 for Sleep Apnea, hypertension, shoulders, knees, etc. The VA claims all data was received by 30 September and nothing else is need from me. They are still in the decision phase and I asked customer service how long that normally takes. She indicated 16-28 days. However, mine has been over 2 months now. Any idea why it would take so long? I understand it is first come first serve but for my claim to be this far past the average time length is puzzling to me. Thanks for any insight any of you may provide.

Dave

Welcome to Hadit.com.

Being that you are so recently retired I think it will not be too long

of a wait for you.

I do say that the indication of "16-28 days" for a decision is a laugh.

If all of your claim issues are not well diagnosed and documented

in your SMR/STR's a C&P will more likely than not, be ordered.

Have you had any C&P as of yet ?

When I filled the first time for my knees it was about 9 months to get to the VA for a exam. After that was done it took roughly (2 months) to recieve my award and have the funds deposited in the bank . Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I completed my C&P exam months ago and the VA claims they have everything they need. It seems they are just sitting on it but I would hate to think that is the case. I assume they are just backed up or on minimal manning for the holidays.
