    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

I hear you on how asbestos vets seem to get jerked around.

In this recent BVA award for asbestos there might be something to help you.

http://www4.va.gov/vetapp10/files4/1030817.txt

For COPD they will hinge on any smoking history and hang their hat on any post service occupations that could have caused the COPD as well.

If you can get a strong Independent Medical Opinion (the criteria is in our IMO forum)that rules out any other etiology but for asbestos exposure as causing your disability and you have proof of your service exposure, they should make an award. But they have not denied you yet.

Yes you mean the Navy Pies list and it is here at hadit-but it seems to me any similiar USAF occupation would make that list relevant as to proof of exposure.

"my supper wrote them a letter explaining the conditions we worked in daily and wat insulation was covering the old pipes was a heating specialist "

That is good evidence and I sure hope they consider it.

now the navy has a rule that if you served in any of the fields that put u at risk and thay had a lsit of them you were automaticly service connected

ammodad,

Certain disability's may be granted SC due to presumption - but no disability's are automatically SC'd.

The decision maker that orders the C&P examination should provide specific instructions

as to what the examiner is supposed to do, most times this involves a diagnosis and whether there

is a nexus to active duty, sometimes it also involves the impact the disability has on employment

and social abilities.

they will try and focus on exposures in your civilian life, any smoking you and people around you may have done, anything at all they can possibly use to place the blame, did you ever do smudge pot operations in citrus groves? Those type of questions they will use any reason at all to blame your lung issues on if you haven't tell them and look them in the eye when you do it.... if you are staring at the floor and looking away they assume you are not telling the truth

I learned a long time ago if you tell someone something they are not going to like it's better to look them in the eye and tell them like you mean it they might not like it but it helps your credibility
