Just got through gathering up the Wife's receipts for the last three months to send in to CHAMPVA.

Total is $2,233.00 that was NOT covered by her employer-provided health insurance.

She has diabetes and some of her drugs are like $450 over and above her primary health insurance.

YUP, I am most pleased with CHAMPVA. There will be a check in the mailbox for this, probably before the first of the year.

Being 100% disabled is NOT FUN...........heck, if I was able to work my health insurance because of my work would take the place of the CHAMPVA, with HER work's health insurance being the "primary" payor.

So, I guess that we are not getting anything that I would not have if I were "employable"...............but, it still makes my heart feel good about the CHAMPVA benefits.

Thanks, VA!

I feel if a vet gets a TDIU award and retro but no P & T status, they should consider investing some of the retro into getting an expert opinion to support a claim for Permanent and Total Status.

The benefits of this status of CHAMPVA and Chapter 35 DEA are fabulous.

I mentioned a vet I helped here who just got a Mega retro check.6 figures.

But to him the Chap 35 DEA award was a Miracle as he has teen children who can benefit from it and 2 that might be able to recover some of their paid college tuition with his new award.

PS and if a vet gets TDIU and was turned down by Voc Rehab solely for their SC disabilities- to me that is evidence of Permanent and Total.

I dont know if that alone is strong enough for P & T status but I don't see why it wouldn't be.

I haven't filled out the paperwork for CHAMPVA for my spouse yet.

Is CHAMPVA playing by the rules that the Insurance companies have to follow regarding student children up to age 24? Just curious...

Logically thinking, I totally agree. If the VA Voc-Rehab finds you "un-rehabbable" then I'd certainly say that you were P&T. And, of course, I feel that the veteran's age should be taken into consideration, I don't care what the "rules" have to say about it. If you are 61 years old, for example, and you suffer from PTSD with a rating of, say, 70% and are TDIU, then it pretty much stands to reason that you aren't going to suddenly "get well" any time before you become unemployable due to the "age factor" in and of itself.
