The VA sent me to a Diabetes education training every month for 6 months a couple of years ago.

Metformin really causes me bowell problems as I asked for the 1000 mg pill. They said OK and gave it to me. They stopped it the next prescription and said they couldnt do that any more. I said was it a cost issue as I have Private insurance and couldnt understand why they would stop it for a paying Vet.

They assured me there was no cost issue. I had to keep it together as I laughed on the way out.

If a Vet has insurance, Go outside the VA.

Wait a minute you are 100% Metformin was in the formulary and then they said go get it on the outside? I think I would contact my Congressman about that, especially now the VA is under a lot of heat. Maybe they will throw an inspection their way and shake their butts up a bit.
