  • Can a 100 percent Disabled Veteran Work and Earn an Income?

    employment 2.jpeg

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Va Tax Relief For Disabled Veterans

Recommended Posts

Went to a Tax Relief work shop put on by the local Fairfax county today. Found out that the 100% disability exemption is just waiting for the governors signature and will be retro to Jan. 1,2011 that is a given.

She also told me that the county will notify the holder of the veterans mortgage and tell them that the veteran will not be billed in July so they will not need to send the county the payment.

I have been trying since Nov. 10 when the amendment was passed to get my lender to return my escrow and they keep saying they need a form from the county. Well the lady from Fairfax county tax relief told me that she will be talking to the head of the tax office and see if they can put out a letter sooner and tell the bank that this will occur and they need not expect a bill from the county.

Not sure if this will work or not with my lender Wells Fargo but they are being real asses over this though I have sent them the laws and my qualifying letter they still insist I have to pay it! This is quite a bit of money that I could be using instead of them making interest on it.

If you are 100% disability in Virginia a recommend going to the work shops to see what kind of help you can get!

Good luck to you all!

OK an update on this finally!! After passing the house and senate some localities in VA are taking names for their list and sending out letters. I would recommend all 100% P/T disabled veterans contact their tax commissioner.

Also the Virginia Governor has the date of March 31 on his calendar to sign veteran legislature! Not sure if this one will be included but I would assume and hope so!!

good luck to all and thank you Virginia!

OK!! It is a done deal! Contact your local county, city tax commission to get the form for tax exemption. It is a very simple form to fill out and send in.

This is a great thank you to Virginia vets! I say thank you Virginia citizens and VA Governor Bob McDonnell!!

    • I would like to meet other Hadit members who live in Michigan.  We have at least two major VA Hospitals (Battle Creek, Ann Arbor).  Or maybe you go to the the John Dingell in Detroit.

I like Ann Arbor.  I like the fact that most of the doctors there are also at the UM Hospital.  I don't like how uickly they seem to turn over though.

    • Really?
I am confused.  A few days ago I spoke to a person at a VARO who said if I die from something other than service-connected my husband gets zero, zilch, squat.  Hmmmmmm, it seems the rules change willy-nilly...I have been rated 100% P & T for over 10 years, MS is static, and I am 56 years of age.

Can a fellow Veteran shed a light on this?

      Thank you.

The site is supported through ads and ad free subscriptions, we are also asking for any support you would like to send our way. You can give a $1 or more it all helps. Keep in mind though that it is NOT tax deductible and we are NOT a non profit. As the site grows so do the costs and ads and subscription do not always keep pace with the costs. Any help is appreciated, but not required.
