Question

I retired from the Army on 31 Oct 2011 and I had a complete Physical given by the Army to include Lab work. I also had a complete check up C & P from VA. My question is, I recently went to see my PCM and after all lab work came back she told me the level readings in my liver was high. How could a Civilian PCM detect this and both the VA and the Army miss it? Can I file a claim for this? She also stated this could be do to the medication prescribed by my previous doctors.

I can't determine what type of liver test you had. I am not a doctor but had to study liver function tests for my last VA claim.

“Among the most sensitive and widely used liver enzymes are the aminotransferases. They include aspartate aminotransferase (AST or SGOT) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT or SGPT).”

This gets a little more involved:

Also your albumin and biliruben levels can be also considered when Liver tests are analyzed. There is a lot to what liver tests reveal.

“She also stated this could be do to the medication prescribed by my previous doctors “ That is quite possible.

You cant file a claim for a high value medical test without a diagnosed and ratable illness it has caused.

However -what were the previous docs prescribing meds for ,as I assume this was while you were still in the Mil?

That would be the disability you should claim.
