Coburn should be boiled alive in a big vat of agent orange. I wonder how much time he spent on the ground in a combat zone? He spent his time getting rich and now he wants to take away what we have.

Doesnt look like he spent anytime. Born in 1948, looks like he went to college instead of Vietnam. Good choice. Oh but then there wasn't much of a choice for most. I didn't see any military experience listed.

We can all gripe and complain on this forum, but it does no good. We need to make these politicians that even suggest things that hurt any Vet know how we feel. I sent Sen. Coburn and my two Senators an email telling them how I feel. Their will be a lot of these proposals put forward, and we need to stop them while they are only proposals. We need to stick together.

Not sure, but did we just go to the graveyard, open up a grave & dig up a dead horse. Since I can't get site to work for me I could be wrong, but I think this is very old news. Just asking???

Well... it seems to me we can do all the letter writing and bitching we want,,, but in todays day and age.. if the va keeps compensation pay at the present levels we are doing good... This debt ceiling bill that just passed congress may result in a 50% reduction in defense spending...and that may well include veteran spending too.....

Think about it concurrent receipt for all veterans is dead.. it will never happen.

Any payments under the new care provider act will not increase in scope any time soon to include veteans of other wars...

Second clothing allowances may never come to pass, because of the budget....

ILP is allready a hard program to get approval for, in the future it will get worse........

etc etc etc......

I have been told over the last 2 years that the VA was cutting costs, both in medical care, and in benefits including ILP. The VAMC stopped carrying compression stockings, and now want to do the 2 year check up instead of 1 year, and trying to get a consult for a specialty like audiology takes forever.

Now, if they actually do cut spending for the VA, the Veterans are the ones who are going to foot the bill while the VA continues to build new hospitals and clinics instead of paying private treatment facilities, huge waste of money, and getting a new IT system for $14 Billion and new iphones and iPads for employees, and they are still hiring more employees. Freakin ridiculous.

The Federal Governtment hired an additional 10,000 IRS agents because they wanted to collect more revenue. How is spending 3x the amount you are taking in on their salaries making money? It is just insane out there.

    • These decisions have made a big impact on how VA disability claims are handled, giving veterans more chances to get benefits and clearing up important issues.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected.

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”
