Question

Howdy everyone, I have a question and wondering if anyone or everyone could give me a straight answer? I'm 33 with a ICD.....yes it was service connect, my heart failure was getting worse and its was time for ICD to help me. I was wondering how much do the VA listern to C+P Doc, which the Doc told that I would be unable to work? Plus I'm afraid that the VA would declared that having a ICD improve my health, which won't make any sense to me.

I'm not trying to be evasive but rather (somewhat and hopefully at that) instructive .... answer these questions and you'll have your answer:

1. When was the AICD implanted? (yeah. I know, on AD).

2. What does 38 CFR 3.303(a) http://www.benefits....ART3/S3_303.DOC have to say? ________________________

3. What does DC 7011 38 CFR 4.104 http://www.benefits....ART4/S4_104.DOC . ____________________________

You've never stated why the AICD was implanted, that is, your underlying medical condition. So, I'm just going to babble that the diagnostic code used to evaluate YOUR condition may be an "analogous" code. Presuming your underlying condition was AV Block (DC 7015) and the treatment was the AICD, you'd be evaluated under DC 7015-7011.

So, do you think that this means I will be eligible to recieve a 100% rating due to my implantable Cardioverter- Defibrillator?

I'm still on active duty in the Air Force and had a MEB and was returned to duty. I received a DC of 7020 from the MEB and had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator installed. My cardiologist says it's service connected. Your thoughts?

From reading 38 CFR 3.303(a) http://www.benefits....ART3/S3_303.DOC my condition is service connected. My ACID was implanted due to Cardiomyopathy, which is DC 7020. So, correct me if I'm wrong, I'll be evaluated under DC 7020-7011. Thanks for leading me down the right path. I'm just trying to figure this all out. Because, from reading 7011 about ACID's it states that it's a 100% rating.

7011 Ventricular arrhythmias (sustained):

For indefinite period from date of hospital admission for initial evaluation

and medical therapy for a sustained ventricular arrhythmia, or; for

indefinite period from date of hospital admission for ventricular

aneurysmectomy, or; with an automatic implantable Cardioverter-

Defibrillator (AICD) in place........................................................................... 100

If I'm reading it correctly, it's a 100%. But I could be wrong, I have answered the questions that you posed and that's the answer that I came up with. Thanks.
