Question

hey everyone, im a 28 year old combat Marine deployed to Iraq for the initial invasion. After coming home and getting out of the marines i struggled with thoughts and dream like most others with ptsd. ive been to jail for a year, rehab for a year, done everything i can do to survive. i have been rated 50% for ptsd for about the last 2 years. for the past year things have got worse, i cant keep a job, just got fired yesterday for multiple infractions, including choking out a fellow employee.. i have a claim for increase submitted by the DAV. my c&p exam is in 2 weeks. should i bring in another letter from my recent employer showing i lost another job. in the last two months my nurse practitioner has switched my meds 3 different times, my brain does not seem to be accepting these drugs, but i take them for the hope of getting better. not sure if it matters, but my gaf for the last year have ranged from 40 to 45, im just so low right now. i cant believe i lost another job. i dont no what to do anymore, how am i gonna survive this one. any answers or hope are greatly apprieciated.

Sorry you are having a hard time.

Glad you didn't get arrested for choking out a fellow employee -

heck - they might end up with PTSD after that.

Have you checked out the Vet Centers in your area ?

www.vetcenter.va.gov

Others will probably chime in.

you need to make sure this is well documented and you need a Doc to say you are unemployable so you can qualify for an increase. IU or a schedular rating may be in your future.

Physical harm to others indicate possible rage and your inability to maintain employment and jail term and other infractions seem to be escalating. Put in for a higher rating due to your inability to function in a work setting. What about your personal/home life? Valid accurate truthful documentation by witnesses, reliable people can assist you with evidence, and your medical mental health providers recommendations, and evaluations can only help your claim. Get as much evidentiary documentation and turn it in. Use your VSO along this way. You need to get help now so you do not seriously hurt someone else or yourself.

Make sure you are truthful in your C&P exam. Don't make up anything, seems your behavior and documentation will assist your claim. You know you can go to your facility and receive treatment for your explosive behavior, versus waiting for a next appt and harming someone. They have a BH individual on call and also triage when normal hours.

Welcome to Hadit. Its my opinion that you need much more help than a Nurse Practitioner can offer. Changing meds three times in two weeks is not a good way to treat MH issues.

Its my opinion but you should ask to see a shrink or psychologist.

Good Luck
