I think I just got the message. I just received 75 duplicate e-mail messages from the VA informing me that there is a partial shut down of the web site this weekend. Of course you have to access the website first to see what the message is about.'

Talking about an overkill. And what or who do I care if that site is down anyhow?

I am up to about ten today so far. I think the person sending the email has fallen asleep and his head is resting on the send button. Or they are dead and no one has checked on him before leaving for the day. Either way, I too, got the message....

Same here, and it is getting worse!

182 emails from ebenefits.

Uh, maybe there is a problem?

I just got home from Bingo and had another 350 e-mail messages-I hit the spam button on all of them and deleted them. I don't need any messages from them-none of this is any worthwhile messages for any VET.

They act like they are doing us a favor. Well, If they were to send you a message and let you know that they approved your claim, or expect a retro-that would be a worthwhile message. I would suggest hitting the spam button for your e-mail and hopefully that stops this malarky business!

BTW -

Make sure you copy and keep all IRIS responses.

I have IRIS responses that verify VA in Phila had my C file, and my AO IHD claim and my SMC CUE claim under Nehmer (after they found the AO IHD claim they had 'lost')

I also have email from the VSCM of the Philadelphia VARO confirming that on the IRIS thread.

I have notes from 800# with names of the reps I spoke to over the last 16 months and in some cases their 'confirmation' code number. They wont give you their last name but must give you this code number if you ask for it.

I had additional correspondence with the Phila VSCM and enclosed again my claims under Nehmer, just to make 100% sure the IRIS replies were true.

My Nehmer letter said they only needed one document, which I promptly sent by priority mail.

My claims and C file have apparently been destroyed- based on the decision I received this Monday.

Or those status calls to 800# and the IRIS emails I have here were blatant lies based on the decision I got Monday and asked VA to CUE.

My complaint on all this is with the VBA.I also have a VA witness statement that it went there.

Although I filed 2 service complaints at IRIS on this- I cannot really expect a truthful response from IRIS so I used a different channel to get my complaint to someone at VBA who try to resolve this.

I have over 20 years of VA stuff. Do not throw anything away- even dated envelopes from them.

I can re- copy everything they destroyed (if that is the case here) and have had to do that countless times over the last 17 years anyhow when my other stuff was lost or destroyed.

You might need to get a large filing cabinet at some point and buy manila folders by the boxful, but it will pay off if you ever have to re construction stuff that VA lost, misplaced ,or destroyed. (and keep your USPS mailing receipts and print off the USPS tracking confirmation to prove the VA received your stuff. I have a stack of USPS slips and confirmation receipts.)

Actually the issue that was going on was that someone sat or fell asleep on the keyboard at the VA that let unlimited e-mail messages go out for the same issue. That there site was down this weekend. I received over 750 messages for the same message. I actually stopped counting. I selected all of them and hit the spam button. Once they get there act together and stop cluttering up by e-mail with this garbage, I may let them to send again.

But for meantime, they have lost there privilege of e-mailing me anything. I will check the site my self once a week for anything that may be important for my other claims.

      VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.  

      They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.  

      This is not true, 

      Proof:  

          About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends. 

          Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken. 

          A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did. 

          I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.

          There are certain rules about community care reimbursement, and I have no idea if you met them or not.  Try reading this:

         However, (and I have no idea of knowing whether or not you would likely succeed) Im unsure of why you seem to be so adamant against getting an increase in disability compensation.  

         When I buy stuff, say at Kroger, or pay bills, I have never had anyone say, "Wait!  Is this money from disability compensation, or did you earn it working at a regular job?"  Not once.  Thus, if you did get an increase, likely you would have no trouble paying this with the increase compensation.  

          However, there are many false rumors out there that suggest if you apply for an increase, the VA will reduce your benefits instead.  

      That rumor is false but I do hear people tell Veterans that a lot.  There are strict rules VA has to reduce you and, NOT ONE of those rules have anything to do with applying for an increase.  

      Yes, the VA can reduce your benefits, but generally only when your condition has "actually improved" under ordinary conditions of life.  

          Unless you contacted the VA within 72 hours of your medical treatment, you may not be eligible for reimbursement, or at least that is how I read the link, I posted above. Here are SOME of the rules the VA must comply with in order to reduce your compensation benefits:

      Good question.   

          Maybe I can clear it up.  

          The spouse is eligible for DIC if you die of a SC condition OR any condition if you are P and T for 10 years or more.  (my paraphrase).

      NOTE:   TO PROVE CAUSE OF DEATH WILL LIKELY REQUIRE AN AUTOPSY.  This means if you die of a SC condtion, your spouse would need to do an autopsy to prove cause of death to be from a SC condtiond.    If you were P and T for 10 full years, then the cause of death may not matter so much.
