Yes you can but what level were you denied? If it is the first denial, ask for reconsideration.

Dont give up on SSDI because you are 62 since you take a hefty cut in the amount you will be getting until you reach full retirement age.

With SSDI you dont take that hit.

If you are receiving 90% service-connected fromt he VA, you will be over the assets level for SSI. SSI is a needs-based program, so your nets assets are taken into consideration. It doesn't matter for SSDI.

I was denied on my first attempt when I was at 70%. The window for reconsideration has closed and I believe I have to do it all over again. This is why I was considering doing ssdi and ss at the same time. Will this be a conflict as to what I am asking for? Also, do you suggest I hire an attorney to help me?

Yes, hire a SSD lawyer. Not any can do it or do it right. I was in the SS office a couple days and the specialist said somethng just stay ssdi until I 66 and then going SS retirement
