Question

I have been diagnosed with Schizophrenia/Depressed, Schizophrenia, MajorDepresiveDisorder, and PTSD. I have never filed any claim for this with the VA. I was released from the Army in Nov 14, 1984. I first contacted VA clinic concerning my mental issues in 1988. After that, I surrender to drugs and alcohol to cope with that as well as my physical disabilities. I have been attending the clinic on and off since then. I've been hospitalized for it a couple of times and, I am currently under medications. Seroquel, Remorone. I was a paratrooper and in the graduation jump there was an incident in which two guys collided in mid air and plunged to the ground leaving them death or very injured, that, have hunted me for sometime as well as an car accident I had back in the service. Now days I live under a lot of stress and depression due to my conditions. I don't have proof of the jump but I would imagine it should be recorded. I do have poof of the car accident. Should I open a claim for this or should I just leave it alone???

Thank you very much..huh.png

If you believe that your present mental disorders are a result of or were caused by your military service, file a claim.

You should open a claim. Go to a VA Hospital and ask to see a Service Officer. They can help you. Hadit can help also. Every State has a VA Regional Office. Tell us what state you are in and we can give you address. A simple letter that this is an informal claim and you will follow up will protect you effective date the date VA starts paying you.

With your diagnosis it should be fairly simple to prove up your claim.

Good Luck
