I sure hope your "drug addiction/alcohol addiction, and just poor money managing skills" have had

major improvements - IF NOT - you will probably just wind up chasing high's and being broke and

not taking care of your self and your life.

No one can advise as to when the cash will come.

I suggest finding someone you can trust to help you.

Also - FWIW, it you get arrested and jailed for drugs or alcohol related issues, you risk

the loss of your comp.

Not trying to hammer you or put you down - Hell - I'll admit it - I've been there

and I freaking never - never - never want to go back to that shell of hell again.

I was told by the C&P exam guy cause then I was on all types, now If they pissed me it'd only be marijuana... but no income... no drugs... and the C&P guy said I may have to have someone manage my $ due to my drug useage and 15k in debt. (credit card advances for drugs) i never got arrested or jailed tho for it...

Sounds like they will be considering a fiduciary to help keep track of

your VA benefits. Have they asked if you have someone that can do this ?

If this is the case - it will add time onto getting an official decision and your benefits / compensation.

I read this

  • If you call or visit your local Department of Veterans' Affairs for information on this benefit, do not be surprised that the individual with whom you speak will not know about this benefit or be knowledgeable about it. You will have to be persistent in getting to speak with someone who does. Regretfully, this is more common than not.
  • This process takes approximately 6 - 9 months (possibly longer) for you to receive a "determination of eligibility." You need to be proactive in making sure that you have all of the required documentation when you begin your application, or you will encounter additional delays. NOTE: A determination of eligibility does not necessarily mean the releasing of accrued funds in the event of mental incapacity. This will require the assignment of a Fiduciary and will lengthen the process. However the VA will start the monthly pension payments on an approved application once it has been awarded.

If i'm going to get 100% for a mental disorder (PTSD) it stated that most vets are sent the Fiduciary Leter, and it takes 3 months if u reply w/ a NOD.

With that paragraph it says at the end "This will require the assignment of a Fiduciary and will lengthen the process. However the VA will start the monthly pension payments on an approved application once it has been awarded."

what's this mean? They will with hold my retro pay and pay me my monthly compensation or will I have to wait? 3 months i'll be homeless, carless and phoneless.... sweet...

if they were to send me a fiduciary letter wouldn't it have came by now?i had my c&p exam oct.

Maybe a good idea to contact your VFW rep and ask some more questions.

Maybe who ever is adjudicating your claim didn't even catch that part where the

C&P examiner says you might need help managing VA benefits, perhaps the examiner

didn't write it down.

Until you get an OFFICIAL notification - anythings a guess.
