carlie,

If my memory serves me correct I remember reading old BVA cases from the fifties where veterans were service connected for something called "war neurosis". The folks who write the DSM probably found different names for old symptoms. According to hadits history of compensation page the VA became concerned with mental disorders in the 30's or 40's.

TestVet,

I disagree with you! Manyof us including me have seen veterans get serious back pay.

No two cases are alike!

I have two case pending on De Novo right now. Cases that were denials in 1986, and in 2006 were awarded service connection based on the same information used to deny. I have NOD's pending for earlier effective dates back to 1986, and I will win the cases it is just a matter of time.

Now if you wait to file an inital claim after 20 years that is a different story, while I think you should get back pay the laws say otherwise.

but  remember never say never because it does happen!
