A Couple Of Weird Things With My E-Benefits

Rate this question

Question

So I submitted my first time claim in Mar 2011 was seen by a VA Dr in Feb 2012. So really not that long of a wait from what I have been reading. Well I looked at the E-Benefit site on Mon and it said Preperation for Notification. (YESSSS) checked last night it was back to Review of Evidence (BUMMER). So from what I have been reading this is a pretty common thing. That it could be its just getting a final, final look over before its signed and mailed. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING. I noticed somebody said that you can find letters the VA would have prepared and you can print them out.

I checked it out and I found a letter that said.

This letter cerfifies that -------- ---------- ----------- is receiving service-connected disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs

Gross Benefit........

Net Amount Paid..........

Effective Date December 1, 2011

Combined Evaluation 60%

I started to get really happy when I noticed something. the Effective date says December 1, 2011. Well I applied in March so shouldnt it say Mar 2011.

Any thoughts on this would be appritiated.

Thanks, Cooter!

Yes, it looks like since my son is 6 he now has a SSAN so they need it. No problem, but there is still this other claim for ???? sitting there. I didn't open either claim, and am grateful for the dependency issue being settled. I called the 800, but had to schedule a call-back. I'll send an IRIS and see what happens.

This is an update for those that watch this sort of thing. When the VA closed out a claim in 3/12, they called and asked for my youngest son's SSAN. I didn't have it, but when I did I called back. I also went through my VSO to follow up. This resulted in a dependency claim (just to add his SSAN as he's already on award) dated 3/27/12. The expected close (in Sept 12) was 12/5/12. In 11/12, they slipped the date to 1/2/13. Today (12/4/12), I noticed they slipped the date to 1/13/13. This is all for the sake of entering my son's SSAN, with no change in benefits, etc. Wow.

Just sharing...
