Dfas Mystery Payment

Question

I recieved a payment from DFAS into my checking it posted as the following DFAS-CLEVELAND DFASFKSPEC. I have no idea as to what it is the VA has no idea neither do the people at DFAS

since they handle only retired vets. Im confused since i know they always get there money back and Ive been out 2 years now

and just want an answer as to who gave me the money if not error then what. Hopefully someone can give me an answer to when they want there money back.

"Stop loss" is a program whereby military were (involuntarily) extended beyond their separation dates to meet mission needs. There was a 'stop-loss" payment because of it. The DFAS site is not too specific on USMC procedures though. You might need to contact the boys (and girls, I guess) on Bannister Rd. for USMC info.

Were you involuntarily extended beyond your scheduled separation date?

I dont even know what a stop loss pay is so can someone explain but it doesnt sound like it would be.

Well the answer I got from dfas was that it was my leave and seps pay and to check my LES from march 24 25 2012. Still baffled I got out in august 2011. So there mistake or really backed up I am just going to let it sit in savings for another 30 days. Since I dont have a 2012 LES my guesses are out my attempts to find out are done.
