Clothing Allowance

Question

First let me say that I have been receiving the clothing allowance for years (right knee brace). Recently I was issued a brace for the left knee (SC). I read here or somewhere that it was possible to get the clothing allowance for each SC condition. Does anyone have any information on this or was I just dreaming?

I applied for dual as well. When I followed up w/VA here in Nashville, they informed me that it had been received but their systems were not updated yet to provide decision. I was further informed that when you receive dual, you are no longer 'static' in the system, meaning it will not be reoccurring automatically as you will have to apply annually..! They also said letters of decision and payment would be delayed to september!

I never got a decision letter, I just got a check every August. I have been receiving clothing allowance for over ten years applied every year and just got a check no decision letter. I don't know why the are now sending decision letters. To me it seems they will do whatever it takes to delay veterans receiving their benefits. I see it as punishment for them having to do their jobs. I am willing to bet everyone of those individuals who work for the VA system who also receives a clothing allowance is enjoying their benefits now!

Well I won't be getting my clothing allowance anytime soon! Just got a letter from the prosthetics department stating that they have receive my application for clothing allowance and that they don't have records of me getting my devices from them. I have had my devices for years and I got them from them and I have been receiving clothing allowance for over ten years. Also I went to the prosthetics department in May 2012, with my appliances and clothing and the even date stamp my first letter and gave me a copy and now at the end of August they are trying to start the process from the beginning. This is crazy! I will not let them get away with this.

Sorry for the extra aggravation and frustrations - I wonder if there is anyway you could fax the proof you have to the prosthetics department before they send their "we don't have any records" to the VBA. Of course I would also follow-up with mailing a copy with receipt signature requested so that you can have proof.

It really is a darn shame that vets have to constantly unscrew VA's record keeping.....good on you for having them date stamp your first letter.

ebenfits shows a direct depost of $716.00 . that means that I am not getting the second clothing allowance that I requested in January.... I guess I wil;l have to make a special trip to priosthetics to see what is their major malfunction this time.. I really hate dealing with these people.
