Discitis

Question

I had a lumbar puncture a couple months ago and now I'm suffering from discitis. A infection of the discs in my lower back. The lumbar puncture was to diagnose non service connected MS. Can I claim service connection for the discitis or should I file a 1151 claim?

With me suffering from discitis can I undergo another lumbar puncture or will I have to wait for the infection to resolve?

A few months ago and the infection is still not resolved?

Has this given you any other problems?

I think it might be jumping the gun a little- the VA could mitigate this by good care for the infection but then again-

I strongly suggest that you file a Sec 1151 claim- this could get worse-

I would just say this is a claim under Section 1151:

and briefly state what happened as you did in your post and add that you have suffered additional disability due to this error.

Did this help them with the diagnosis?

Did they tell you whether you have MS or not?

I did not know this was SOP to Rule in/out MS---

Dr. Bash would sure know-he has MS. Do you have any relationship with him due to your other claims?

They can check Oligoclonal bands in the spinal fluid, also do an MRI of head and spine can detect MS-

the lumbar puncture is only one potential test for MS.

I hope they do not have to do it to you again-
