I agree with Berta.

One of the things a "good" attorney will do for you is to let you know If you dont have a winnable case without an IMO/IME.

That is, if you have a very weak or missing nexus, you arent getting any further without it, until you get one, lawyer or no lawyer.

While it should not take a lawyer to figure that one out, remember, you are treading in shark infested waters with the VA. There are many, many ways for a Veteran to lose out, and no nexus is just one of them. A few more are:

...Failure of the Vet to timely file NOD

...Failure of the Vet to timely file I9.

...missing evidence, even if this is the fault of the VA..the Vet still loses.

...defective C and P exam

...and many, many many more traps.
