Question

i need to talk to someone about parkinson's please! i've had pd for a few years, in stage 3 now. i continued to work until i couldn't work. social security disabled me in 2010 and va diagnosed me with pd in july this year and prescribed carbidopa 10/levodopa 100mg two tablets three times a day. what i want to know is anybody having the same symptoms as i have: bad pain, very very weak (can't do any physical work around the house without paying for it for a few days), wake up at night with arms, hands, legs and feet tingling and terrible cramps and it's starting to bother me mentally. i just need to talk to someone, i'm getting very down just about to give up. there's no pd support groups close to where i live. i feel useless.

thanks

I'm sorry that your going through this Warren. I don't have PD myself, I just wanted you to know that I care and am very sorry that your feeling down. Please don't give up. I really hope if there is a member on hadit.com that has PD they will respond soon. In the meantime...have you tried any of the on-line support groups such as http://forum.parkinson.org/ I know for me it is easier when I am able to talk with a fellow vet about problems, but perhaps until a fellow vet responds you might want to try one of the "civilian" forums - might even find a vet or two on them.

Warren,

I have PD, and I'm probably between stage 3 and 4. It is a pain in the a##. Do yo have a Neurogolists at the VA? Maybe some of the pain may not be related to your PD. For instance, I have DMII, and Nueropthy, which causes pain. If, your legs twitch at night you clould have Lazy Leg.

You sound like me, you still like to work in the yard, and piddle around, but after a few minutes you just get so tired. I have come to the point that I have to take an afternoon nap. Hate to shave, must do it very careful with two hands. I have actually put toothpaste in my nose, after a zillion tries trying to get it on my brush. The little things that people take for granted. The best advice that I can give you is try to have a positive outlook. Try to get out of the house as much as possible. If, you are worried what people might think, don't.

Warren,

Forgot to add, you need to get yourself a mini weiner puppy to keep you busy.
