Question

At what percentage does your health benefits extend to your family? I know that once you hit 50% you get healthcare for yourself for non-sc and sc conditions, but I don't know the percentage when it falls under your family.

Well, if you're 100%, you qualify for CHAMPVA. If you're retired (medically or other) from the military, you get TRICARE standard for free and can opt for TRICARE Prime at a cost (~$500/yr). Other than those conditions I believe you're on your own.

i have tricare for life, my cost for my wife to have tricare prime is $57.50 a quarter. Thats $230 a year.. Just received the newest issue of Echo's for retirees, and it states that fees are being increased to $538,58 for a family and $269.28 for retirees.

It also states survivors of deceased active duty, or medically retired service members and their dependantsw are exempt from fee increases There rates are frozen at the rate it was when classified and enrolled in tricare, unless there is a break in tricare, ie... stop paying for a quarter, and then re enroll....

Teac,

If you're 100%, why wouldn't you move to CHAMPVA? Why spend the money when you don't have to? Is there a difference? (I don't know, and not being negative - just don't understand as I've not dealt with CHAMPVA but have TRICARE standard).
