Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery”instead of ‘I have a question.
Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.
Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading too:
Post straightforward questions and then post background information.
Examples:
Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

Most Common VA Disabilities Claimed for Compensation:
You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons …Continue reading
I have a few question that I am trying to find the answer to. Here goes, I am currently awaiting for my initial disability claim to be processed, started 1 jun 2012. Currently in gathering information stage on Ebenifits. While i am waiting i requested an memo of rating so that I may sign up for Voc Rehab. Upon looking at my ebenifits i noticed that a memo of rating has been done. I havent recieved a copy of this memo though. My question is, if this memo has been done can I request a copy of it? The reason why I am asking this is that I need to know what my rating is so that I can put it on the VA FORM 28-1900. My second question is that my RO is located in Salt lake city and I am currently living in ATL, Ga where would I send the form to? If I send it to salt lake city and is approve for voc rehad how would I meet up with a counselor when I am in GA? Would they transfer the information to GA and I met with a counselor here? or should I send to the RO here in ATL and have them look it up and go from there? I am very confused as to what I need to do at this point. Like I said I am still waiting on my claim to be processed and I dont want to mess myself up on getting it completed quickly. Also I have another question outside of voc rehab. I am currently seeing a private doctor for some of my disability problems that I am claiming. Should I register at the VA hospital to see a doctor under VA so that I can have documentation of seeing a VA doctor for my disabilities? The reason why I am asking this is that If I need to appeal my initial claim or file for an increase they have documentation showing that I have been seeing a VA doctor. Also will tricare pay for me to be seen at the VA hospital? I a retired VET using TRICARE Prime as my medical insurance. These are just a few things I have going on in my mind while I am waiting for my claim to be processed. Do anyone know anything about SLC RO? Are they good about giving a good rating? are they good about processing claims quick? like I said my claim has been in since 1 Jun 2012 and Ebenefits say that it should be done by 14 Jan 2013. Please help with some good promising info on these issues that I have.
