Be truthful, stay focused on the issues you are claiming. When he ask for your description of your conditions and symptoms describe your worst days only. Avoid common sayings like "i'm good, resolved, taken care of, ect". Everything you say, move, look is analyzed in his report for a gaf. Don't offer too much information that is not necessary. For example, my father or mother had this condition or I think I may have this. Let him figure your diagnosis out. My notes from my SMR were short, so I brought my 10 pages and handed them to him to review. Even though he has a copy of your SMR, it may help him narrow the search through your records. Remember, you are in and out, so you need to make every second count.

Make sure to update me when you can

Best of luck

Like Dot said. Be truthful #1. For me this meant to not take any pain meds for about three days prior to my C&P. Then I was able to present a true picture of my conditions.

I would bring everything you can. I printed out internet articles of research that showed Sleep apnea had a causal relationship to solvent exposure. The C&P dr quoted my article and said it was at least as likely as not that my sleep apnea was related to service. I didn't really need his opinion because I had submitted an IMO stating the same but it was icing on the cake. I still don't have a decision yet.

    • I would like to meet other Hadit members who live in Michigan.  We have at least two major VA Hospitals (Battle Creek, Ann Arbor).  Or maybe you go to the the John Dingell in Detroit.

I like Ann Arbor.  I like the fact that most of the doctors there are also at the UM Hospital.  I don't like how uickly they seem to turn over though.

    • Really?
I am confused.  A few days ago I spoke to a person at a VARO who said if I die from something other than service-connected my husband gets zero, zilch, squat.  Hmmmmmm, it seems the rules change willy-nilly...I have been rated 100% P & T for over 10 years, MS is static, and I am 56 years of age.

Can a fellow Veteran shed a light on this?

      Thank you.

The site is supported through ads and ad free subscriptions, we are also asking for any support you would like to send our way. You can give a $1 or more it all helps. Keep in mind though that it is NOT tax deductible and we are NOT a non profit. As the site grows so do the costs and ads and subscription do not always keep pace with the costs. Any help is appreciated, but not required.
