How Long Does A Nod Take?

A buddy of mine filed a Nod in Oct 2011 (14 months ago) and it is still in the initial stage (Appeal pending).

From looking at Appeal Pending: You have initiated an appeal, but at this point your case is still with the local VA office that made the decision on your case.

I see there are 6 stages for a completed NOD, this is through the Atlanta office, any ideas how long this process takes?

There's no way to tell. I depends on your VARO backlog, the complexity of your request and several other factors. Also even though WE have deadlines, the VA does not. I've been certified since 12/2010 with no motion in sight, no docket, etc.

*I've been waiting on my nod to go to the BVA for two years...... so your guess is as good as mine...

When you ask "How long does a NOD take, I say "How long have you got?" Really, the NOD is not usually the problem, but all the &^%$ that comes later at the BVA and beyond.

I've had a NOD that took 18 months then had to file form 9. Then 1 1/2 years at BVA just to get a remand. This is at the Des Moines, IA RO. All this goes back to 2008.
