Why Can't You Communicate With Your Ro?

Rate this question

Slowlane

Question

Is there some unknown rule that makes it a sin to try to communicate with your RO? If you know or think that your RO might be wasting their time on some of your claims and you could possibly clear up some questions with a simple letter then, why not send one in?

Your letter may stop progress on your claim but in the long run it would possibly clarify something that would have to be appealed or claimed later.

For example: You think that they are not considering a service connected thyroid condition and you write them and tell them that you have previously claimed the condition and evidence is in your records. Well, they get your letter and they really are working on your thyroid condition and already know about your records and you are wasting their time.

or

Yes they have overlooked the thyroid condition and find that you are right and it actually helps you and them.

How about we send them a letter every three or four days just to let them know we are still alive and miss them because we have not heard from them?

Lets write them one every day, Then do an Iris at least three times a day. Then we can get a comfy chair and post guard on the mailbox.

It is OK to check in say once a month but if you do it very often you start to annoy these people and they arent too vet friendly anyway.

The can retailiate and slap a claim at the back of the pile.

Check in once a month. Be nice and a veteran will likely get better results.

I agree with J. Be nice even if it hurts. The VA. people are practically anonymous. It sucks but you can't really get at them. You better off playing by their rules. I am sorry that it makes little sense. Even most federal agency don't operate this way.

For example: I am a Retired federal employee. I filed a claim for FERS disability retirement. They sent me a letter with the name and phone number of my case manager. If I called and asked a question, the had 48_72 hours to call me and respond. I even got a call on a Saturday from the ladies home number. The OPM denied my claim and I took it to federal court. The judge called me to tell me I won. This won't happen with the VA.

My point is that we all know that the VA has a crazy way of doing business. You just have to try to play by their rules and do it better than they do. IMHO

And thank you for your service and best of luck!

Happy holidays. Mike

That would sure as heck throw the brakes on your claim - repeatedly !

Sorry I got off track about writing them every day.

I just thought if you could communicate with your rater it would be better for everybody in the long run by saving lots of wasted time.

Kinda like standing in line at the store and the guy ahead of you stops and goes to get something else he forgot.
