PTSD is a pervasive disorder that is memory-based, thus no existing cure is known. As to the question will Bipolar Disorder in some way impact a claim for PTSD? PTSD has some 30 to 40 symptoms, behaviors, and responses. The top 4 disorders usually seen secondary to PTSD are

1. Depression

2. Generalized Anxeity Disorder

3. Bipolar Disorder I or II

4. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Although the VA will only compensate you for one mental health disorder, if other secondary disorders exist they will be looked at on how they impact PTSD. If so, compensation will be approved at a higher rate.

Anytime a member goes thru their topic thread and edits everything out -

it keeps members from learning from and thru their experiences

and leaves blanks in the thread and information.

When your filing your PTSD claim, should you list these kind of conditions as secondary, or will the VA consider them when determining your overall mental health rating if they're documented in your VA medical records?

2E151,

If you have been in treatment for PTSD, it is likely your Psychologist or Psychiatrist has already entered diagnosess secondary to PTSD. On Axis I, the first Disorder is Primary. After that those listed after PTSD are considered to be scondary.
