Travel Pay...

Question

I know this isn't part of ebenefits but I looked at my bank account and it appears certain VA Medical Centers, James A Haley in Tampa for one, are now paying travel pay with direct deposit....The Code is MISC PAY 36 TREAS 310.....This is just for information purposes just in case anybody may need to know in the future.

It may, if the veteran is SC. The check/no bank acct system was challenged some yrs back as many homeless don't have accts and use check cashing places. Unless they come up w/some kind of debit card system to replace it, it's hard to tell.

NSC vets don't generally get mileage. jmo

Both forms I filled out stated that the VHA may have access to the veteran's bank account information for direct deposit if the veteran is receiving disability compensation from the VBA. They were canvassing all eligible veterans to ensure that there were no glitches. It's that old admin adage, "If in doubt, over-route."

Tampa VA appears to be swamped with Travel Pay and they don't have enough people. I don't know why other hospitals you can go to the window and boom your done. In Tampa you still have to fill out the form. They are about two months behind currently and no telling if they will ever get caught up.
