John just went through this on Friday. Two test a MRI and another test. It takes about an hour for both. results should in early next week. He was diagnoissed with true vertigo, did the therapy but did not work the dizziness is still there, he has a hearing loss with tinninus and vertigo being that the therapy did not work for the dizziness the next step is to have the MRI. I hope this helps. Oh yes he does go to a ear,eye nose specialist.

I am SC for tinnitus (ringing in ear) one sided deafness with Vertigo and Vestibular dysfunction, with the only hearing ear sc as 10% for loss. Total of 50%

Tests are quite extensive, mernieries is diagnosed in a positional chair where they spin you around and stop sideways or on back or front. Its the weirdess thing, also they use a test with a graph of eye movements as they are related, then comes the spinning room with the guy asking you to "name all of the girls names you can" frankly I was so surprised that I could only remember the "Most Significant" ones (tee hee ). If yoy dont pass out from the ice water in the ears you puke all over the place or something else.

I Just saw a "sadist" VA doctor who put a 2 foot tube up my nose and down my throat. He asked if I would retake the tests again Fer get it pal...

I Have an appt for another cat scan and then if thats ok I will get an MRI at local VA hosp.

I Hope this helps you...
