Effective Date On An Appeal?

What is the effective date on an appeal? The date you submitted the appeal(for me August 1, 2012) OR the original date your service connection was established(24 Oct 2011)?

I ask this because on the Statement of Case I received it does not have an effective date but it does show the original date of service connection of 24 Oct 2011. I was just increased via appeal from 30 to 70% for Major depressive Disorder.

The effective date of the appeal, if awarded, should be the date of the original claim, provided you haven't missed any deadlines.

I filed the appeal on August 1, 2012. The orginal decision letter was dated June 22, 2012 with an effective date of 24 Oct 2011.
