  • Can a 100 percent Disabled Veteran Work and Earn an Income?

    employment 2.jpeg

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Frustrated! Bbe W/no Rating Info?

Hi everyone! Wish I was having a better day but I'm near nuclear meltdown today. Surprisingly my son pulled out a BBE from the mailbox last night which shocked me since according to ebenefits my claim backtracked frm prep for notification to pending decision approval again-even though Peggy told me a decision had already been made! I opened the BBE dated 14 Dec, only to find a veterans handbook for my health benefits, welcoming me to the system. Inside it says I am priority D, 0 service connected, and the letters say my book will give me know info abt any other pending claims. An additional form talks abt my right to appeal their decision! What is going on? If a decision has been made since the 4th and my book is dated the 14th, this makes it look like nothing was approved with absolutely no explanation! Please help!!

Sorry for the typos earlier! Soooo I submitted an IRIS request, and I talked to my VSO whom sounded like he was in a hurry. VSO said they did get info on my claim dated the 4th (Peggy was right abt that), but he couldn't get it open while i was on the phone with him because someone else was in it at the same time? He said he thinks it was 20% but he stopped short of saying he was positive on that. The Bbe I got yesterday was my "clinic" packet and he said to wait a few more days for another letter. If 20% is my rating, I'll look at it as a blessing that I received anything, but I was truly hoping for 30% with the chronic shoulder issues and my scarring. :( If ebennies is still reading as pending decision approval (back from prep for notification) is it possible they are still deciding something? I know I need to just wait like you guys said to, but its so hard :/. I need a time out....

Yeah, that book used to piss me off too. Like when you where a kid and you got socks for Christmas.

The life insurance envelope is a little better. At least you know you are getting a new rating!!

    • I would like to meet other Hadit members who live in Michigan.  We have at least two major VA Hospitals (Battle Creek, Ann Arbor).  Or maybe you go to the the John Dingell in Detroit.

I like Ann Arbor.  I like the fact that most of the doctors there are also at the UM Hospital.  I don't like how uickly they seem to turn over though.

    • Really?
I am confused.  A few days ago I spoke to a person at a VARO who said if I die from something other than service-connected my husband gets zero, zilch, squat.  Hmmmmmm, it seems the rules change willy-nilly...I have been rated 100% P & T for over 10 years, MS is static, and I am 56 years of age.

Can a fellow Veteran shed a light on this?

      Thank you.

The site is supported through ads and ad free subscriptions, we are also asking for any support you would like to send our way. You can give a $1 or more it all helps. Keep in mind though that it is NOT tax deductible and we are NOT a non profit. As the site grows so do the costs and ads and subscription do not always keep pace with the costs. Any help is appreciated, but not required.
