Everybody,

Thanks for your help and advise but mostly encouragement.

We got the telephone call this morning from our local Social Security Office. My husband (chuckles) was awarded his SSDI benefits. The award letter won't be mailed yet, but the SSA representative, is gathering bank information, and mailing address and also is setting up the minors allowance for our son.

He set up the appointment for today. He said he remembered the initial interview we had with him and he said he was really glad that my husbands claim was approved with NO APPEALS PROCESS. (we are too.)

This is great news and has certainly taken the pressure off.

Thank you Hadit friends!!!!!!

Jangrin and Chuckles :rolleyes::lol:

Congratulations on your win. I am a lot like your husband in that I am DMII with PN. I got my letter from Social Security today and I was denied. I know that SS is a diffrent criteria than the VA but you would think that a 100% disabled vet would be a slam dunk. I already have an attorney so on we go. I am glad for you that some of the pressure has been removed and from what I have seen from the way you handle your claims it is a matter of time before all your goals will be met. Once again, CONGRATS! Terry Sturgis

Thanks Terry,

I'm sorry about your letter today. I know that the SSA is positively different than the VA. The SSA is all about function. After the SSA receives the doctors exams and reports they send it to a re-hab /work specialists. The specialists go through the report and determine what the doctor says are your limitations and your abilities. If they can find jobs that descriptions fit your profile. Then they check the job markets that are somewhat common and available in most communities then they will try to say you can do this type of work and if you need training they will train you.

For my husband, when it was all said and done, the SSA doctor basicly put in his report everything to do with his illnesses and his physical limitations. I honestly read the report and I could not think of one job he could do. ( well, I take that back, my husband said he could be a politician, because you don't have to be able to hear (listen), just look good, smile and talk alot.)

In all honesty, Dr. Bash's report also said my husband "is not employable". So between the two MDs and then the two psychologist with their PTSD and depression diagnosis. He really is not able to be productive as an employee in the work force. I think the IMO/IME reports, also made a temendous impression, Dr. Bash's CV is impressive.

Good Luck Terry, don't give up, it will happen for you too, I will keep praying for you,

JANgrin, Take a couple of days off and rest when the retro comes in. Take a house hunting trip.

Hi John,

Yes, we plan to do just that. We remain unsure of where we want to live but the SSA is aware of forwarding our mail to a friends PO BOX for now. We are going to take our time and implement a plan of stress reduction for our little family, the past few months have been a real challenge.

We are still looking and processing information in order to make a decision,on where to live after our house closes escrow in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the kind words.
