Question

Should I really tell the doc how I think and feel about Nam combat and what happened. I don`t want to be commited. Should I tell him on the first visit I am filing an NOD and need a letter about unemploability or when should I ask him for it. I want to set up a treatment schedule and don`t want him to think I only want a letter from him.

Yes, I would tell him exactly how you feel about Nam combat. Tell him every thing you saw, felt and did in the Nam. This is how you win claims not by holding back. Unless you are a severe suicide risk you are not going to be locked up. The docs have to really believe you are a danger to yourself or others to commit you. Tell him how those experiences affect you now. That is the big deal. How do the things you experienced in Nam affect you today. This is really what will win your claim for you.
