Service Connected Recurrent Kidney Stones ?

Rate this question

mrmark1999

Question

Can i receive a VA rating for kidney stones ?

I first had Kidney stones while at 29 Palms Ca in the Marines I had 2 separate events one on right side and the other on the left side sent to the emergency room both times . I was also sent to Camp Pendelton for a urine study. All of this is in my Medical File. After my discharge I have had 11 different passed stones .One surgery to break up stones and a stent put in .I currently have 5 more stones in my kidney now .

Questions

Should I file a Clam ?

Can I file a clam?

Could it be considered service connected recurrent issue ?

If i do file how do i go about getting it Service connected?

If it is approved what kind of rating could i expect?

I'm going in to a C&P exam next week with this exact same issue.  I retired in 1999 and didn't even know that I could claim something like this.  I was seen at the Beaufort Navel hospital in 1985 for my first Kidney stone and have had several since then.  My latest surgery was about 8 months ago.

Problem I have is that all of my military medical records are lost.  At least that is what they are leading me to believe.  I have requested them in writing and also called the Beaufort Navel Hospital to see if they had copies but no luck.  I was told in writing on the letter that came this week scheduling my exam that I can't take any supporting documents to the C&P, all paperwork has to come from the VA.

Was it difficult to get this SC?

Thanks

Good afternoon, I am recently in the same boat and not sure how to approach it and need some guidance. I did not have the stones while in the service but was diagnosed with Hyper parathyroid bilateral tumors shortly after discharge. Since then I produce stones constantly. I have been in the ER multiple times with the VA and also a local facility. I have also had surgery recently to have one removed and within 2 weeks bilateral 7mm stones formed after surgery. Now its starting again and Im over it and trying to figure out my next move and if I should of will even be considered for a disability rating, im currently at 30% for other injuries suffered while enlisted. Thank you in advance.
