Hello,

Just a quick question.

I originally filed my claim in August 2012 and just saw my retro pay show up in Ebenefits.

After doing the calculations, it is reflecting 24 months and not the 28 or 29 month as it should.

Any clue what causes this?

My thoughts would be that that would be a COLA raise difference. Just a guess, tho.

The amount for 31 Dec is a little over 1500. Does COLA factor in where you live or is it all the same? The amount I should be getting a month is 976.13

COLA is same everywhere. We are to receive 1.7% COLA increase for 2015.

If you go to http://www.benefits.va.gov/COMPENSATION/resources_comp01.asp you can see what you monthly payments are now it is updated for the new rate and it will also let you see what they were in past years so you can calculate correctly.

I just got my envelope in the mail with all of the information. How do I know if this rating is permanent. The incident that I am receiving benefits for now happened over 10 years ago.

The paperwork will state you are considered P&T, or it may state that you have no future exams - it may state that you're family members may be eligible for ChampVA and Chapter 35 benefits. Any of those would make you P&T.

However, the pay rate you stated of $976.13 is a 50% rating, w/spouse and one child. You can't be P&T unless you are rated 100% or TDIU. jmo
