Granted Iu 1 Dec

Question

Hi,

I was granted IU back in early December. I'm rated at 80%, but receive 100% compensation.

I read online through the VA site that Veterans with IU are eligible for comprehensive dental. Which I really need. My teeth are falling apart due to grinding and clenching (from my anxiety), overall not taking care of them (due to my depression), not having the money for it (it's going to be a lot of work), and my PCOS (causes Vitamin D deficiency).

I've heard stories of those on IU denied the dental care. I would be absolutely gutted (and would probably have to get all my teeth extracted and wear dentures. I'm only in my 20s).

Had anyone experienced any issues or denied dental from the VA?

TDIU will get you dental. I have had a couple of teeth extract and asked for implants they said too much bone lost to hold implants and this is what you will probably here from VA.

I'm frustrated right now. Called dental clinic, they told me to call my primary care team. Primary team tells me there is a note from dental that says I do not qualify. I explain that I have IU. And that dental just told me to call them. So, I guess I have to make the long trek to the RO. Which I was hoping to avoid. Can't do that until next week.

The Dental office can look on the computer using your name and last 4 To check that you qualify... it will let them know your rated IU 100% and take your award letter too!

You should qualify for Dental...Its better to go in person if you can vs call in. usually its a long wait unless you tell them your in a lot of pain first thing they do is X-RAYS then a evaluation from a dentist then the long wait for the appointment but once your in its good.

My complaint is the long wait in between appointments!

Good Luck &Thank you for your service

I was awarded tdiu and went to the vamc dental clinic and made an appointment with no problems. My first appointment went well with my dentist in where I was told that I had a choice between dentures or implants due to good bone. You do have a choice in which you choose so don't let them feed you b.s.....

I agree with Ketchup56....don't let them feed you B.S. when I was awarded TDIU, the patient services clerk told me to go straight to the Dental Clinic and make an appointment. I went and had no trouble getting appointment. Now I am on regular 6 month schedule for the dental clinic.

All the best....

Greg
