Any Meds For Ptsd Nighmares?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Hi all:

Even though I am on meds for ptsd, I still have nightmares a few times a week.

I recover from them better than I did before I started therapy but they are still pi**ing me off!

Is there a medication that can help to get rid of them??

Thank you,

Mike S.

Hi Mike,

Currently one of the meds I take for PTSD and nightmares is REMERON

(Mirtazapine). I take 90 mg per night. I also take RX drugs for anxiety and agitation

My sleeping partner tells me I still have the nightmares but when I wake up I don't have any memory of this therefoe I don't spend the day rumminating about them. This has helped even though it's not 100 %. VA usually RX's Trazadone by the barrels for this.

Good luck,

carlie

Mike,

When my Shrink added Clonazepam 0.5 MG x 3 at bedtime I noticed a huge difference. I know I dream, but either don't remrmber or don't have nightmares that I had before. Don't know if anyone else has that experience or not.
