Sharing Of Medical Information Through Va Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (Vler)

Question

This could be good and bad at the same time. The sharing of records between agencies should cut down on the processing time for records request, and the claims process however, I wonder, how the discovery process and verification of received information will go. Hmm you would think this is a good thing, that way, for those who have VA and private docs information on your conditions and treatments can be looked at by all your treating health care professionals. My thing is how can a Veterans confirm information was shared in their claims process. And whether there is accountability on agencies just using partial information to their benefit. Hmm.

Potential problems with sharing the VA records exist.

First, the VA electronic system used to generate has (or had) some major flaws.

I've seen too many of my own records containing information relating to various appointments

and medical exams that were just plain "gun-decked"! The provider generated information to fill in the blanks, with

no relevance to the actual exam or true answers to asked or unasked questions. Some others seemed to have information carried forward, either

as defaults or leftovers from a previous veteran's exam.

To be honest, I've also seen some of this in private doctor's electronic data documenting an exam and treatment.

I've been able to get private doctor's records corrected, and don't know how to even begin with the VA.

(Too many different providers, and how to get a different provider to correct records entered by someone else.)

I had a DRO rebuttal what a VA Dr opinion Stated vs My Private Specialist Dr. IMO /Report!

it surprised the hell out of me but he did.

Made me a firm believer in IMO's IME's it cost but well worth it.

Buck!

So true, Chuck.

I've repeatedly been astounded by my records having answers to questions I was never asked or and other downright falsehoods/misrepresentations- and THIS is the documentation they use to make/disprove our case?!?
