First they look thru your VA records to see if you have been diagnosed or treated thru the VA. Then they will mail you a letter asking you if all your evidence is either thru the VA or are you going to submit it. Then from there the VA will either ask you or the VA you are being treated at to fill out a PTSD DBQ. If that is enough evidence then the VA will decide your case. If they need more or don't believe you have been diagnosed properly with PTSD, then the RO will schedule you to go to a C&P exam with a Mental Doc. That's it, then just wait for claim to complete. If you are not incountry OIF OEF , and you dont have PH, CAR, or CIB on your DD 214, they will need proof of a stressor.

Now is the time to think about getting that proof, if you need it.
