    Have Questions? Get Answers.

Tips on posting on the forums.

    1. Post a clear title like ‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery instead of ‘I have a question.

    2. Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title.
I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.

    3. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.

Again – You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.

    Leading too:

exclamation-point.pngPost straightforward questions and then post background information.

    Examples:

    • Question A. I was previously denied for apnea – Should I refile a claim?
      • Adding Background information in your post will help members understand what information you are looking for so they can assist you in finding it.
Rephrase the question: I was diagnosed with apnea in service and received a CPAP machine, but the claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?

    • Question B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
      • See how the details below give us a better understanding of what you’re claiming.
Rephrase the question: I was involved in a traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?

This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”

You’ve just been rated 100% disabled by the Veterans Affairs. After the excitement of finally having the rating you deserve wears off, you start asking questions. One of the first questions that you might ask is this: It’s a legitimate question – rare is the Veteran that finds themselves sitting on the couch eating bon-bons … Continue reading

Congressional Voting Records On Vet Issues

Recommended Posts

Hey, please tell me what I'm missing here. I just read over the DAV's assessment of congress's Vet voting record and most of the republicans are rated ZERO or close to it while most of the dems are at 100 or close to it

Is the DAV misleading us? Have the majority of repubs been talking one way and voting the other?

Is this a one time phenomenom that I just happened to miss all these years of voting republican?

I realize I'm not supposed to vote up or down on just one issue and I am vitally concerned to have politicians in place who first and foremost look after our national security But..........

Can I trust any longer folks who may have been so clearly disingenuous about an issue so dear to my heart? Like , who is responsible for proper care of those of us who ALREADY put our lives on the line for national security?

My congressman had a zero rating. I recall calling his office last year to ask for help with a VA related issue. "we are always willing to help our VETs said the staffer" I never heard from the office again!!!

Just what am I missing here ,PLEASE!!!!!!i

The republicans don't want to pay for the damage to people who actually go out there and fight the wars and do their duty. They want throw away vets. It is obvioius from the way they voted on mandatory funding.

The only thing the repubicans are about is making rich people richer. GWB says he knows what it is like to sacrifice like the soldiers in Iraq.

You have that right!!!! But they sure have done a great job fooling the middle class for the last 15-20 years!

What a magnificent propaganda job! Just thinking about the pres's attempt to privatize social security makes my blood boil! Just another Wall streeT MONEY GRAB THAT WILL NO DOUBT surface again till we open our eyes.

But like someone said here earlier we Vets are suckers for appeals to guarding the national security and feeding the military industrial complex. The Repugs do a lot better snow job here than the Dems have managed for many years.

Republicans are not Vet friendly

Actualy it should read "Repugnantcans are not Vet Freindly"

Since they are in the Gay Old Party, of course they are not freindly. They must have been section 8.

Yeah I noticed that also. It seems all the Republicans have voted almost zero percent while telling everyone how much their for veterans. While the Democrats have voted most over 50 percent to 100 percent. Theres a cartoon that showed the republicans saying "Yes we support the Veterans but, not enough to vote them any benefits." LOL this seems to be the case lately and it looks like it from the percentages that they have voted. Im voting Democrat all the way. Im tired of the Republicans way that they do things. Heres the latest from the state I live in. They have a bill to support stem cell research but, at the same time it contains another bill that cancels cloning, you either vote yes for the stem cell and no for the cloning or yes for the cloning and no to the stem cell research. This is the same stuff that their doing to veterans. Im not really a conspiracy theorist but, it does seem like they have a hidden agenda for the veterans and the billions of dollars that they are giving the whole VA system. I noticed alot of the bills that they come up with are two fold and help as well as in some cases hurt the veterans. Just watch C-span some time when they talk about the veteran benefits and youll get the picture. IE Robbing Peter to pay Paul doesnt really work very well.
