Question About Dd-214?

Anyone know if the last country you served in is the only country stated on your DD 214?

or should they be all country's you served in but not the USA.

Example,

A Veteran finished basic training and goes on to his AIT school for his MOS, and then he gets orders for Germany & Spends about a year there and then gets deployed to Vietnam......spends over a year there, veteran has about 6 months left of Active Duty and President Nixon signs a order for early out called ''phase down release program'' (area of time 1969 thru 1975 I believe for the troops in VietNam.....but other country's may qualify? not sure on that?

Veteran gets out with Honorable Discharge and on his DD-214 It only shows his time in service and only list his time spent in RVN.

Is both country's supposed to be on his DD-214? if so how would he get this corrected?

Thanks in Advance.

this is just a opinion

I believe because RVN was a combat overseas.

Was this part in the "Remarks Column"?

Something along the lines of

"Served in Vietnamm after 5 Aug 64"

'Served in Vietname : DATE - DATE"

70% - PTSD

->50% - OSA (Secondary to PTSD)

30% - Bilateral Pes Planus w/Plantar Fasciitis

30% - Migraines

10% - Tinnitus

20% - Back

0% - bilateral shin splints

It should show your complete military enlistment / commissioned time. I am printing mine out so I can black things out, then I can post it for comparison, if you like. I would assume they are the same form, but my actual deployment info, etc, is in a different set of documents, I believe, in the service info on the "Blue Button" for example.

"copy 5 to Lockheed Martin Information Technology" I also just noticed this towards the end of mine, that seemed weird to me. Somehow, I don't remember seeing that before. I was an aviator, but why would they send it to Lockheed and wouldn't they need to ask me to authorize the release of my personal info? Not an issue, really, but still not cool, there is a lot of personal info that you don't want floating around with the identity theft issues now days. I guess, since they let China pick and choose what they wanted for 4-5 months, it doesn't really matter, they already know all my info. Besides, waiting on the VA has bankrupted me, so they aren't buying any boats on my credit, lol!

Give my about 30-60 minutes, I need to do something before I can go thru it and black it out.

I had to mess with my sprinklers and almost had a 2 ft copperhead try and get a taste of me in the dark using a flashlight with very weak batteries. Went and grabbed my 1911, but couldn't find him. New house and new neighbors on the 2 acres next to me keep scaring all their critters over to me! I killed 3 scorpions in the house 2 days ago and saw a 12" centipede in the yard yesterday. I sprayed today, but they had a paid a pro a couple weeks ago and I was behind the curve. Anyways, things got exciting for a bit.

As to the 214, here it is: Ah, how do you upload a PDF here?

    • These decisions have made a big impact on how VA disability claims are handled, giving veterans more chances to get benefits and clearing up important issues.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected.

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”
