Question

Has anyone been awarded Chronic Fatigue? I was told by one examiner that I could not have Chronic Fatigue in addition to Somatization Disorder. Any advice on getting this service connected would be appreciated.

"Chronic Fatigue" is a symptom of several diagnosis.

For example, sleep apnea can cause "chronic fatigue", and do could mental health disorders.   You can apply for benefits of mental disorders, and some of them may include "Chronic fatigue" as a symptom.  "Chronic" means its an ongoing problem, as opposet to "acute" which means its of a shorter duration.

Generally to be compensated, our symptoms have to be "chronic", because if they are acute, then we get over them and move on.

Please keep in mind that examiners do not make the rating decisions they only examine veterans to see if a current condition is related to your military service.  It may be true, but make VA put it in writing.  If you have multiple complaints of fatigue in your service records just like you have some type of depression symptoms in your records than VA should be able to separate the two conditions.

Independent medical exam from Dr Bash. You need a timeline constructed from medical evidence.

Thank you much! You rock! I have been a member of this site just recently, and I am impressed with the emphasis that vets have dedicated to helping each other get the benefits we are due. I wish I had found this site back in 2000. I help other vets each and every chance that I get when I have knowledge of something that he/she is unaware is available to them.

Thank you "J"!
