Opioid Constipation

Diets don't always work. I tried them but Morphine SR and IR are horrific and no diets help. I was taking Miralax (purple cap stuff) but that didn't help with the Morphine. Movantik is the key as its not a laxative. The VA RXs laxatives and thats what they wanted to do with me, noway. I am not taking laxatives as all they do is dehydrate you more than the pain killers do.

rpowell01 I agree but it can help just not by itself.  A multi discipline approach under the care of a non biased specialist would be the best route.  Also if the VA infrastructure was just leave you alone and quit trying to bury you would help immensely. Either help or leave me alone so I can get proper care and support.

I'm beating a dead horse here, this is nothing new and sadly with the VA it is a fight we will always have.

I am prescribed 10 mg of Morphine ER 3x a day and Oxycodone IR 5mg 3x a day so I am extremely constipated. I want to try the Movantik so I don't have to worry about the constant constipation. I am prescribed my medication from a Pain Management Clinic, a large hospital not a shady corner clinic. My Dr reccomended Senna it's an all natural supplement that is sold at Whole foods and its called Smooth Move and is exclusive to Whole Foods. Smooth move is absolutely amazing I take it every other day and have about 3-4 bowel movements a day. If you are looking for a natural supplement that won't mess with the natural flow of the intestines this is a great option. Just take it at night and by late morning, it's a go. The bottle says to take 4 pills at a time but 3 usually does the trick for me. I couldn't believe how much a natural substance work so well, I was very skeptical. I asked my Drfor Movantik and she said just stick with the smooth move and a stool softener.

Silent uproar, I have actually moved to this my self and your right it does work.  You just have to find the right dosage.  I take two pills three times a week and keep the water intake up. I get it at Target. It is just called Senna Laxative 8.6 ml.  100 pills in a bottle lasts pretty long.  Oh I'm on 20 to a max of 50mg of percocet daily so that must be kept in mind.  I would definitely discuss your dosage and frequency with the doc and the pharmacists.

Smooth Move huh, I'll have to remember that next time I am by that place.

Thanks for the insight, I thought it was only sold at whole foods. Good to know I can get it somewhere else. How long have u been on the Percs. I'm sure you probably already know but be careful of your acetepetamine intake once you get up to the higher dose. You can do a Cold Water Extraction it removes the acetepetamine, better for your liver.

thanks again
