Hiring a law firm

It is often asked "when" or "if" you should hire a lawyer.

If your claim is at the RO:

You dont need a lawyer at the RO, because the RO employees would not even notice that you had a winning claim and deny it anyway, 85% of the time.

If your claim is at the BVA:

If this is your FIRST Trip to the BVA, probably not.  You can appeal to the BOARD, just make sure you promptly file the NOD, and file the I9, the two steps which are required.    If you have been to the Board more than once, such as if you get multiple remands, then you need a lawyer.

If your claim is at the CAVC:

Dont even think of going to the CAVC without a lawyer.

I recently hired Gloverluck, a law firm out of Dallas Texas who represents Veterans.   Here are their client reviews:

    Website.

     http://gloverluck.com/

I was suprised when I called I actually got to talk to an attorney, and not a "menu options" computer, or legal aid.

There are many good law firms out there, I also considered CCK, B and M, Chris Attig.

If you have dealt with a law firm with a good result, then add their name to this list.

Hey BroncoVet...so i had an intake appt with Roger Hale from the www.halelawfirm.com & received a packet in the mail today that included a form VA 21-22a to sign & send back with other docs. Now, tht im looking to appoint RH as my legal rep, what do i need to do to revoke the appointment of the VSO rep i have been assigned to up to this point, considering they haven't done squat a no point of my claims process? So do i go on ebenefits to do this, or fax/mail a revocation form or letter?

Thx Bronco and anyone else.

When you give your POA to a representative, it cancels any previous POA's.  I dont think you need to do anything, but this is a good question to ask your new attorney.  Congratulations, I hope Mr. Hale works out well for you.  Im unfamiliar with him.

Broncovet,

Glad you picked Adam Luck to represent you. He seems pretty sharp on all the VARO (and above) tricks and stalling tactics.  He got my 100% TDIU this past December, though they got the effective date wrong(as always).  I, as well as the lawyer, get paid a large sum for a correct retro-date.  In my case, 4yr, that comes to about +$75k over and above my previous disability rating.  That will be another $11-12k for the lawyer's services when all is settled.

IMO, the VA does this on purpose in order to screw with veterans' lawyers, in order to make them work harder for their fair share.  Spoke with Adam this morning and he has a couple other tricks up his sleeve to motivate the VA to start moving on completing my additional appeal areas (OSA and MDD).

Keep us posted on your progress.  8-)

Thanks, Mike!

Yes, I hired Adam Luck's partner, Julie Glover, but, of course, they both work my claim together.

She is sharp!   I have almost 6000 posts on hadit..probably the most except for Berta...and I could tell Julie Glover "knew her VA stuff" within just a few minutes of speaking to her.   She told me she "ran my case by Adam" and they agreed to represent me.   Dont get me wrong...Berta is the best.  Her and Alex (asknod).  Alex knows French and Latin..so he knows what all the habeus corpus stuff is.

I used to email Alex a lot...and usually had to have a dictionary to understand his emails, but I did not mind a bit.
