80% drawing 100% TDIU, P&T, why file more??

Question

66 yr old Vietnam vet. 20 months incountry. Recently diagnosed prostate cancer. TDIU &P&T rated 100% over 11 years.

Why file for service connection for prostate cancer when I've already been drawing 80%, 100% TDIU for other conditions? Also, if I do file requesting s/c for prostate---will they (VA) mess with my existing rating?

Does it even make sense to file?

Chris Attig explains it pretty well.  Its a common myth that VA compensation "tops out" at 100%.  There are many levels of SMC which mean you can get well over 100%.

This myth is often perpetuated by VA and VSO's.

SMC has many levels.  It includes both statuatory housebound (100% plus an additional 60 percent)  and housbound in fact.   It also includes Aid and Attendance and "loss of use" of specific appendages/organs.
